NATURE LIBRARY – ROYALTY FREE STOCK FOOTAGE IS A GO!

Nature Library had a little glitch … for most of this year which has now been rectified. long story short? here goes. i dropped the ball and let the domain expire. my world collapsed, i was sad. not shed a tear sad, but pretty messed up about it cause the logo is too dang cool not to be used. i didn’t let that stop me though…because i’m no quitter. here that mom? i made them give me my domain back. when they did, i was so glad, i felt it deep inside my heart to give them some money because it made me so happy. initially, when i freaked out about Nature Library not functioning (thanks ben!), i quickly canceled the shopping cart software because who wants to pay for something that isn’t being used? i ask you? seriously, me too… so, that little maneuver (one day i’m gonna learn how to spell that word all by myself) cost me dearly. the poor little silver shopping cart never got re-configured and sat all by its lonesome self…neglected, yet paid for.

i’d like to apologize to anyone who might have tried to use the site during that ginormous hiccup. go forth, laugh at my haphazard html code and gaze unknowingly at my uglorific simplistic design. i promise you this though…as soon as i’m able, it’ll get a facelift and stock footage of the nature kind will never look cooler.

if you could build a stock footage website, what features would you include or want to see? go ahead, leave a comment…i’m still waiting for my first comment from someone other than myself that isn’t spam.

ITS SOAP, SILLY!

just now, i dropped a bar of soap into a pot full of dirty water in the sink. for the slightest of split seconds, somewhere in the “nano” neighborhood i’m guessing, i thought “oh crap!, get outta there, you’ll get dirty in all that filthy leftover bean water” then it dawned on me that i was about to wash my hands … that what i was so worried about was in fact soap. its soap! soap can’t get dirty, fool!!

now, about the sugar…

DESKTOP IMAGE DINNER

so, today at my first day at the new gig i’m being instructed by this wonderfully helpful guy – steve. answering my questions, giving me the low down and all’s good. except…i can see a partial desktop image which stirs my curiosity. i can’t see but a corner of it. its driving me nuts…what is it? what is back there taunting me from behind three layers of various sized application windows? is it a toy? dunno. is it a steaming coffee cup with a skull and cross bones sprinkled on top in chocolate? doubtful, but could be. i just can’t see enough of it.

the thought slips away from me as i dive head first into the shot that was given to me. i’ve got a lot on my plate as i’m learning new things. add to that the fact that i’ve been out of work for the better part of 2010 and realize that i’m hungry to work, to fit in, to be a part of something creative.

fast forward 8 hours, i have a question for steve. i head to his desk around the corner from where i was sitting. he is in conversation. i kindly squat down so as not to impose too much. while i wait for him to finish his convo and direct his attention to my squatting hulk, i notice the windows on his second monitor have moved some revealing a more complete picture of the desktop i had pondered earlier. here it is, the relief i’ve been waiting for all day. NACHOS!! it was a photo of his lunch from the weekend prior that he wanted to remember. that silly little picture drove me into wanting to have nachos of my very own, so i did…only i sprinkled mine with chipotle powder that i made from chilies that i purchased the other day while out shopping with claire.

by the way…chipotle powder freakin rules.

GREENER PASTURES

they weren’t kidding when they talk about greener pastures in the sense of moving on with life. i just packed my auto full of the necessities, clothes, food, computer gear, bike and hot sauce and drove north just about 10 hours. most of that drive polluted your vision with these greener than green pastures. i’m sure the polarized sun glasses had something to do with it but still, i’ve never seen ground cover THAT green before. so lush and so saturated. during my drive i’ve learned that new zealand has too much water and too much moisture. we’re over saturated. looking back, i had all these wonderful thoughts to share and things to say about my drive but now all i can actually recall is a giant speed smear of green just lots and lots of GREEN!!

i’m excited for my first day on the job. reminds me of when i was a kid and starting at a new school. where will i sit, what does the room look like, whats for lunch, who is gonna be the bully etc… good times!

BUBADUB FORUMS ACTIVATE

hello friends, all two of you. just a quick post here to make note of the recent developments to bubadub. we now have a forum thanks to malcolm and his mad installing/troubleshooting skills. i prettified it and made it all sexy…cause that is what i do. suppose you could say i’m a “digital sexifier” – yep, i’m coining that term right here. no one else will give me a job so i’ll just invent my own. how do you like those pixels??

if you are pregnant or know someone who happens to be, we would welcome their input and or contributions.

here is the link to the newly polished forum in all its glory.

headed now to a meeting with malcolm where we’ll work on the next bit of excitement for the bubadub empire. stay tuned. more info as i’m allowed to share it. smile, rejoice and laugh at the clouds!

THE WAIT

go ahead maya, crash on me. crash on me repeatedly as i try to do my assignment. again and again every couple minutes. i’m cool with that you piece of junk. i have patience. more patience then you have crashes. you will NOT beat me down. when you get close though, i will kindly set you aside and grab a paint brush because that makes me feel good. it sets things straight in the universe. calms the mind. a time warp if you will, which sucks me into a black hole of distraction where you can not gain access to my fragile little pea brain mind. whos laughin now maya? yeah, me and my clown … as we wait.

THE DEEP END

you gotta jump in the deep end if you want the treasure.

BUBADUB EXPLAINED

Bubadub is a very special guessing game that accomplishes two things.

  1. Helps Mom and Dad with expenses of their pregnancy.
  2. Raises funds for worthwhile charities.

HOW? Simple…

A day has 24 hours.
24 hours = 1440 minutes.

Bub will be born on one of those minutes, which one will it be?

By guessing and participating in a Bubadub from anywhere in the world, you can:

  • PLAY: your guesses to earn Bub Karma, win Magic Minutes and hopefully guess Bub’s birth minute.
  • INVITE: friends, family, coworkers to join in! The more, the merrier, and the more successful the Bubadub.
  • HELP: Mom and Dad with the expenses of pregnancy. Give the baby a helping step into the world.
  • FOLLOW: Mom’s Bub Blog: the saga of creating a new life – how thrilled the child will be to read it all one day!
  • SHARE: the fun and joy of the count down building up to Bub’s Birth!
  • FUND RAISE: for outstandingly effective charities while having fun.

Each guess costs a small amount – all the guesses add up to a real boost for Mom and Dad!

At least 15% of the proceeds go to charities! Mom and the Winner get to choose from our list of hand-picked organizations. Parents can choose to donate some or all of their share to charity too!

If you happen to know anyone who is pregnant, come join the baby brigade and help us give birth to a better world. Start a bubadub for that special someone. They’ll be glad you did.

A WALK TO SOOTH THE MIND

was in a funk with my junk. didn’t like where i was at while i was wearing my hat. had to change the very strange vision i was seeing. nothin better than somethin wetter than where i currently resided. so it was so that i was to go on a walk to the sea to see what i could see.

claire went along and while she didn’t sing a song, we instead pointed and talked and took silly photos with stuck out tongues.

part of me wants to go the whole year without working and part of me wants to kill that part of me that wants that. its kinda doing my head in at the moment. see that nail in the photo below? i kinda feel like that right now. but most importantly, i left that funk with my junk down by the sea where i took that pee. (i’m kidding, i didn’t pee…but it rhymed nicely)

WARM FUZZY FEELING – BUBADUB

i just got an e-mail from bubadub.com informing me that Jenny’s baby is here!! wahoo, yay Jenny, yay Chris. congrats!! when i went to the site to see the results, i found out that Ashley Cronin was the lucky winner who gets to choose the 2nd charity which will benefit.

additionally, we got a bit of a new homepage designed and uploaded as well. hopefully more concise. soon we’ll breathe some life into it by getting the ticker animated so we can see a scrolling list of the latest participants and recent member activity.

just wanted to share my excitement over knowing the site functions as planned. there is surely lots more to come, time permitting. something i’ve no shortage of at the moment. how often can you really say that and mean it? i’m of mixed feelings about it actually…
